“Act Local, Think Global” project, Anastacia King, the reigning Miss Wisconsin Earth U.S. hosted the clean up on Bradford Beach in Milwaukee. She was very elated to see how clean the beach was compared to others. She saw people actually clean up and throw away trash. However, there were spots on the beach that had bottles, cans and other trash. They had found a lot of microplastics and plastic straws. Microplastics and single use plastics pollute our water systems and pose a potential threat to aquatic life. Remember to skip the straw, throw away trash and recycle when you can and always bring a usable water bottle for drinks.
